Design with a Purpose brings designers, developers, and marketers from all fields together to discuss their creative process and how to design for results, not just "make things look pretty".
How to Conduct Research Beyond Usability with Tommy Hung
How can we make good design decisions without reliable information about who we’re designing for? While putting your designs in front of users is crucial for usability and iterative research, the need for deeper level research is critical in designing for emotion and communication. Tommy will share how to conduct effective research to understand the attitudes and behaviors of your users, and how it should fit into your organization.
Tommy Hung is a User Experience Designer with a background in clinical Psychological Therapy and field research. After graduating from the University of Florida and University of California at Berkeley with degrees in Neuropsychology, Tommy moved to Southwest China to work with the Chinese AIDS Initiative to research and develop a strategy to help HIV positive children overcome circumstances that could lead to severe behavioral disorders. Now focussing on UX design- starting out at Code School and recently moving to Bisk Education- Tommy has been working to implement research practices that effectively improve design.
